Political indoctrination of pupils

Sections 406 and 407 of the Education Act 1996 govern pupils' exposure to political issues.

Schools must forbid the pursuit of partisan political activities by junior pupils, and the promotion of partisan political views in the teaching of any subject.

Schools must secure that where political issues are brought to the attention of pupils, either in the school or during extra-curricular activities, the pupils are offered a balanced presentation of opposing views.
